Ingredients to Create a Blissful Life #52: Success

Well, my dear friend, we have come to the final Ingredient to Create a Blissful Life for 2015. Can you believe it? Thank you again for the contribution you have been to this process. I’ve had a great time and appreciate your support.

This week, our final ingredient is: Success

As we prepare for another year, I’m going to ask you to spend some time celebrating your successes of 2015. Even if it wasn’t a stellar year for you, I am positive that there are at least a few things you can look back and recognize as accomplishments. Many of us keep ourselves very busy and when we complete one thing, move on to the next without stopping to acknowledge what we just did. That is a habit I’m asking you to throw away right now.

The idea of success is an interesting one. What does it mean to you? If you asked 100 people to get really clear on what success meant to them, I bet you’d get 100 different answers. Some would talk about money, others their careers, still others would talk about their kids, and I guarantee you, every one of those would look different even though it’s about the same thing. Each one of us has our own yardstick and my only advice to you on this subject is to not ever measure yourself by someone else’s and to not measure anyone else by yours. Success is a deeply personal concept and no one will ever view it exactly the way you do. As long as you focus on what really matters to you, you can never truly fail.

At the beginning of this year, I found a pretty box and I made a spot for it on my desk. Every time I finished something that meant something to me, I wrote it on a piece of paper and dropped it into the box. Not everything I’ve written down and put in my box would seem like a task worth recording to others and that’s ok. I’ve learned the importance of acknowledging and celebrating my victories. Without that, we can get caught up in an “overburdened” lifestyle and life starts to pass us by.

So as we close this year and get ready for 2016, remember at least a few times where things went well and you accomplished what you set out to do. Dance, holler, hoot, blow a horn! Pat yourself on the back and be proud of yourself!

And let me be the first to congratulate you for your successes and for taking the time to acknowledge them. Then onward and upward my friend! We have a whole new year to fill with more successes. Maybe next year on New Year’s Eve you’ll be sitting, like me, with your box of accomplishments and reading about the things that meant the most to you. How does it get any better?

I hope throughout this year that you have played with at least some of the words we’ve looked at and implemented changes that have helped you to create a more blissful life – even if they weren’t my ideas. LOL Wishing you every happiness and mind blowing success and prosperity in 2016! Happy New Year!!!
